It is incredible that a policy where the only beneficiaries are drug dealers can be so strongly defended by the state.
not to be paranoid or cynical here but might there be a money interest connection at some deep level here, i’m not at all surpirsed. and what are we doing with head shop drugs… prohibition. I swear to God, how do the most myopic people get into power as our ‘leaders’? We need new politics, new engagement.
Think Woody sums it up pretty well, incarceration in the US is off the charts, the book ‘The Spirit Level: How more equal countries do better’ is an excellent source. Privatisation of prisons, Michael Moore in his latest film also highlights this issue quite well.
