Change college academic year to increase capacity. (eg) most universities have a total of two 81 day teaching periods in most courses. We could double the tuItion capacity in one academic year by reducing holidays of students & staff. This would also take pressure off seasonal jobs market and give those already unemployed a better chance. Take unemployed Civil Engineers and in 2 years retrain them as Energy/ Electrical engineers. Target those areas industry needs most and get them out into the work force faster by reducing the number of years in certain courses without compromising tuition time and without any additional cost to the tax payer. Keep academic staff employed but more productively. The taxpayer will gain a much better return on the capital invested in our colleges by not allowing them to be idle for most of the year. The infrastructure is there lets use it.
