tics – could mean ‘thick’

or ‘tics’ – those scratchy things

or tic tocs – perhaps explosive personalities.

Its refreshing to finally see somebody who wants to move things forward. No doubt you are already thinking of this, but its worth having an international dimension to this if possible, both in terms of seeking experienced mentors and in terms of finance.

It draws all of these together with the notions of loan/debt and “the pound of flesh” extracted in William Shakespeare’s “The Merchant of Venice”.

A man does something wrong that ends the lives of seven people and he sets about atoning for his wrongdoing by, literally, ……. nope, I will not spoil the movie for you………

It is called “Seven Pounds” and certain people in positions of power in Ireland right now could learn alot from seeing it.

Ergo, our socio-political order in Ireland has not changed since Yeats was writing. “That is no country for old men” either, from “Sailing to Byzantium”, also rings true today: pensions decimated, medical cards retracted, nursing homes neglecting people, hospital beds closing……… no need to go on;

Yeats had it pegged, alright!

This poet/playwright/artist warned us nearly 100 years ago about what was wrong in our country and he was ignored, just as some people today believe that the arts and humanities have no value in University or in education generally.

Those who fumble in the greasy till and the craven men in their seats are running things and they do not care what Yeats saw and they do NOT want the rest of us to see it.

This government only want to talk to multinationals that can bring hundreds or thousands of jobs to Ireland at a stroke of a pen. There is no understanding of the fact that all these larger businesses, they likely ALL started out as one or two person operations.

I’m no longer prepared to stand on the sidelines and pull my hair out with dispair. I want to make a difference, to my own future and the future of other people on this island who deserve better than the absolutely fu*cking idiotic mess that this government is making of our country.

I think it’s time for us to by-pass the problems we face, whether those problems be the government or the banks. It’s time for us to take control of the problems we face by moving past them and rise above the sheer incompetence that is destroying us. I’ll post here when I have the website up, hopefully by the weekend…
