Lads,

Explain where the 1600 billion figure is coming from please? The Budget NAMA proposal referred to taking on property loans of a book value of 80 to 90 billion.

Every time I think of something significant to say, along you come with something as good as this and leave me profoundly speechless.

Attaboy Deco.
I'm going to (discreetly) let a few people see this post. I might know shag all about economics (sorry DMcW..was bluffing all along) but this is my bread and butter. We're in the middle of a battle to save Bantry General at the moment so a positive project will reinvigorate the old veins.
Much appreciated commentary.Gur a maith agat.
Will keep you in the loop.
BTW. Anyone surfing here that thinks this is just another kooky idea going nowhere, watch this space.

Just do not confuse the plate ratings with what you actually get. I am aiming to cancel out a background power drain of 2-400w most of the time. Much better option for low power applications than turbines IMO. Latter gets much better at the high end 10-20Kw plus - but fearsome money. If I could get a community of 5-6 houses relatively close together to chip in, you'd have a real system. Needs a lot of time and effort.

Your maths is correct and no you havn't misunderstood either.

I just think the 40% figure is not high enough because as I detailed in my earlier posts the unemployment rate has now passed through a limit point that is going to cause massive property price collapse similar to what happened in 1982 (Irish propery prices took a big hit then).

I think the proper figure for the writedowns is somewhere between 60 - 80% to be more realistic. People need to look at the whole economy and look at the trends currently happening especialy our exports falling off a cliff etc.

That means the tax payer would be looking at giving the Banks 1,280 billion (1,600 billion * 80%).

Might be a good area for the country to invest in research bringing the tech up to date, if in a cloudy cold country like Ireland we could make it work it would certainly impress.

We are the end of the food chain and we know we are when it comes to oil etc. We should try planning ahead for a change, I think every motorway and dual carriageway in the country should be lined with wind turbines, noise or planning would not be an issue.
comment please anyone?
